Asleep, Awake

While making this work, I wanted to create a print that had a sense of duality, contrasting my insomnia with an image of the bad habit that keeps me awake. For this, I took two images, segmented them digitally, screenprinted them, and then folded them to create a lenticular print. When viewed from the left, the viewer gets a glimpse of a pair of headphones, cast out of ice. From the other side, an abstracted form of me lying down can be viewed. This work is a back-and-forth depiction of my desire to sleep, alongside my self-destructive habit of staying up at night seeking comfort through the consumption of digital media and personal isolation.
